On Saturday, October 13, 2012 My People Clinical Services (MPCS) will be hosting the 2nd Annual Female Empowerment Conference. This year’s theme is “Empowering Experiences”. They want to ensure that every young lady that attends this conference is more empowered when she leaves, than she was when she arrived.
This will be my second year that I have been invited to hold a workshop at the conference. My workshop’s theme is “every girl should know what love is”. I like to use theme’s that deal with loving yourself because that is a huge part of my brand. This way I can incorporate “Wide Open” and “The Things Inside Me” which are both about discovering who you are and loving that person unconditionally. I believe that young people can learn a lot from the journey I have already taken and continue to take.
My People Clinical Services (MPCS) is a social service agency that provides services to individuals and families who are primarily involved with the Department of Children & Families (DCF) or the Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services (DMHAS).
Dayeshell Muhammad the founder of The Female Empowerment Conference says, “This is an opportunity for teenaged females between the ages of 12 and 18 years old, to learn information that will empower them, increase their confidence, self-esteem, verbalization skills and self-advocacy. It is the belief of the program developers that young women who feel empowered have high self-esteem and are less likely to allow themselves to be involved with risky behaviors that may negatively impact their lives.”
I encourage you to spread the word to any young woman you feel will benefit from this conference. Last year’s event was phenomenal! Not only did the young women take valuable lessons away the staff and administration learned from the experience also. I am proud to be a part of this live changing event.
